The weather system they had been talking about on the news finally arrived. It brought a beautiful sunrise, but has now shifted to gray clouds, rumbly skies, and scattered showers. All in all, it is making me nostalgic for Washington state. Don’t misunderstand, I’m quite happy to have moved, but sometimes it’s nice to mentally revisit a time in our past.
The fall weather usually is welcomed around here since it sends me into the kitchen to start baking, however since I’m dieting, it has become a form of torture. Oops, I was reminded a few weeks ago that using the D word dates me. I never quite caught on to using the term ‘lifestyle change’ that was popular a decade or so ago, and now we’ve already moved onto ‘currently in a calorie deficit’. I think I’ve reached a point in my life where I can give up trying to keep up with the latest word choices. I’ve always thought that at some point we should get an official pass in having to keep up with the latest trend. Maybe it could come with our AARP card.
Anyway, I got over my aged language challenges, threw a kettle on and made a cuppa of genmaicha while I brainstormed how to make my favorite fall comfort food (aka mom’s pumpkin bread) more health conscience. Those of you who have been around here for a while know how this goes, if the recipe works out I’ll share it with you, if it doesn’t….. we’ll never speak of it again. Shhhh!
